
Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) has been training professionals in Food Engineering since 1979, being the first undergraduate program in the Southern region of Brazil. Since then, it has developed training and research activities, adapting its infrastructure to meet the requirements for CAPES approval to offer a master’s science course since 1996 and a Ph.D. since 2004.
1) OBJECTIVES OF THE GRADUATE PROGRAM IN FOOD ENGINEERING AND SCIENCE
General Objective: Promote and provide continuous improvement opportunities for professionals working in different segments of the food production chain, enabling activities that complement their education and consolidate the fundamentals of the field, to make them capable of solving problems, applying knowledge, innovating, and creating within their professional area of expertise.
Specific Objectives: Provide didactic and pedagogical conditions that allow for the deepening and updating of theoretical-practical knowledge of students; Develop research projects involving university and students that meet the demands of the field at national and international levels, aiming to contribute to technological innovation and sustainable development; Interact with other groups of researchers, nationally and internationally to acquire and share relevant knowledge in the field of Food Science, Technology, and Engineering, as well as related areas; Promote interaction between the University and other segments of the food production chain, establishing partnerships to develop innovative solutions for better utilization of the country’s agricultural and hydrobiological resources.

- Preliminary result: June 7th
